Conclusions of Natural Soap Discourse Part 2
soap emulsifies all the grime and other
impurities from the skin. 2)
You should feel that your skin give the impression
of being very clean after washing. If the answer is yes, that
soap is right for you. The soap that removes more oils from the
skin and makes it dry to very dry is used because many people
consider that oil or sebum alone is the main cause of acne.5
As we are becoming more conscious of health and
environmental problems related to the use of synthetic detergents,
we feel the need for a change. At times, the change means going
back to time-tested yet forgotten practices. Throughout the centuries,
the basic part of soap making was use of aromatic oils
and various plants with healing properties. Bathing was
a routine created to wash body and soul, to nurture and soothe,
to improve the spirit, it was never about dirt, so to speak.
In our fury to wash away every single dirt and germ we fail to
remember the essence of self-care. Today, soap makers are
looking for motivation in the works of ancient herbalists.
These old recipes are then effectively united with the latest
scientific discoveries that help to guard our skin and environment.
Fragrances are revolutionized too. More natural and unique,
they follow the ethics of aromatherapy. A lesser, artisan based,
manufacturing of fine soaps allows a more original approach in
every respect. A unique blend of scent, look and feel is reaching
new heights in today's soap making and this trend will carry on
in the years to come.2
